Strobe power supply mounting bracket

12 Nov 2004 Strobe power supply mounting bracket

I bought a strobe kit from http://www.strobesnmore.com/ which includes 4 strobes, 4 connecting wires, and a 6-head strobe power supply. Very nice setup for a decent price. IIRC, it was about 250 USD.

The wires that came with the kit are about 15 feet long, which just gets from the wingtips to the fuselage, and the tail to the area under the pilot’s seat. So, unless I want to order or make longer cable(s), I need to find a place under the seats to mount the power supply.

I decided to use the same system that Van’s uses for the aileron trim, and I also copied for the EZ Pilot autopilot servo installation.

Here is the power supply with the bracket cutout, but not yet bent.

Here is the bracket bent. That’s a pain without a break.

Here are the angles riveted to the bracket, and the nutplates installed.

Here we are clecoed in place. The location is under the right knee of the passenger. The rudder cable is just moved out of the way for installation – it will go over the top of the power supply with no interference.

Here is another shot of the installation from the top of the roll bar looking back.

Once I’ve got it primed, I’ll install it permanently.
