Running wires in the fuselage

09 Dec 2004 Running wires in the fuselage

Wiring does not really show up too well in pictures, but just to get a feel for the status, I’ve shot some photos of various bits of wire that have been run.

I’m labeling the wires using heat shrink tubing which I write on before shrinking it. Looks pretty good. The problem I have with the shrink tubing is that it does not really shrink as much as I need in a lot of cases. So, I have to do two layers of heat shrink tubing on the really small wire, like 22 awg and 20 awg.

Somewhere in that mess are wires for the battery contactors, ELT control, ELT antenna, ECM primary, Fuel Pump primary, strobe control, rear strobe head, rear position light, Endurance bus, and ECM keepalive.

Here is where they come together behind the panel.

Flaps and flap positioning system wires, and the AOA flap position switch. Note the secondary ECM and secondary Fuel Pump wires. They pass pretty closely to the flap motor, so I have double heat shrink tubing on them, and have adel clamps on each edge. The aileron trim servo wires and the autopilot wires are there too.

Shot of the wires underneath the right armrests. I’ll be adding some adel clamps or something when they are all run. The static air tube that passes through there makes things pretty tight.

Right front. Notice the nasty joggle inside the right cover.

The last major wires to run are the starter wire (6AWG) and the main bus wire (10AWG). I should run the battery wire tomorrow, and I’m waiting for som 10AWG wire to arrive in the mail.
