Heat Shield – home made

24 Dec 2020 Heat Shield – home made

Some photos of a heat shield I added to the exhaust near the exit. That area was very hot, and starting to discolor the inside of the cowl. I also added high heat paint to hopefully provide a tad bit of protection to the inside of the cowl.

The heat shield itself is a stainless steel tool I found in the hardware store with other tools used by masons and bricklayers – not sure what it’s used for, but it was perfect for this application.

Hose clamps, screws, high temp locknuts, and washers were all I used. Seems to be holding well. I included a “real” heat shield as a comparison.

I’m very interested in your custom muffler. More pictures please and comments on noise dampening..
