21 Jun 2005 Full Rudder/Inadvertant Braking
I was giving a Flight Review in my students RV8 on landing we veered to the right.
Going back to the hanger we discussed why this may have happened.
My friend climbed back in and I proceeded to pull the aircraft to a fast trot. I asked him to put in full rudder as he would when landing.
With his heels on the floorboard he pushed in right rudder… and sure enough the break squeeked.
It was not much but just enough to make it veer off to the right.
Corrective action was to assure that the toes were at the bottom of the rudders. Heels on the floor board was simply not enough.
