Coolant Expansion Tank Version 1

EnginesAs I discussed here, fitting a coolant expansion tank onto the firewall will be a challenge. http://www.rv8.ch/article.php?story=20051108211416780 I tried to get the one shipped by Eggenfellner on there, but I just didn't like how it was working out. So....

I designed and had built a new coolant expansion tank. I outsourced this to Canton Racing in the US, since they seem to have a lot of nice coolant expansion tanks in their product line. They built the tank exactly to my specifications. The quality is outstanding. It took a couple of weeks, cost about $200 + about $100 shipping (unfortunately I didn't communicate with them very clearly on the tricks of international shipping).

I must have been experiencing some brain fade when I measured the dimensions. Actually, what I did wrong was to not make a simple mockup out of cardboard or something like that. Real dumb, since now I get to have another tank made to the correct dimensions. Crud.

Here are some pictures of the tank sitting with the Eggenfellner supplied Moroso tank.

What I need to do is have the top part built about 1 inch shorter. Here is my new drawing:

Both tanks hold about one liter of liquid.

I'll get this built after I test the mockup!
