Test flight - plan for instrument failure

Hi:

After four years of work, finally there was nothing else left, but to get
ready for the flight test...a first experience.. and a lesson..

On Sunday April 3rd. 2005, at 9:15 AM. RV6A N-342BM took to the air, from
Orlando/Sanford Airport, Runway 27R. Clear with some wind 7 -10 Kts.

I took transition training with Jan Bussell CFII, at Ockeechobee, very good
instructor.

I have Aero Sport Lyc.150 h.p. with basic VFR, Nav aid, and E.I.S Engine
monitor Unit.

Flight was about 30 minutes long, then I got ready for the landing, reduce
power, keep reducing power, waiting to see the 100 mark, for flaps...then
I relized, the plane did not feel right...was too low.. and too slow?

Well I finally got it, the ASI was stuck at 120 mph...mark...I was almost
fixed completely on the darn gauge.....The AIS was the one from Van's..Falcon..

This was not what I had expected, on a first flight.. for me was a little
disconcerting..

Well, after I composed myself, did a new approach and landed with no problem.

The static system, pitot were checked. Instrument failure.

Good flight, good experience...

Now to buy a new AIS, different mfg.
